Stage 6 of the Yorkshire Wolds Way starts in the village of Ganton, beneath the Northern ridge of the Wolds. The Way initially climbs to the ridge, and then runs just back from the edge for a few miles, passing the RAF station on Staxton Wold. After briefly skirting Cotton Dale and Lang Dale, the route takes a brief diversion into Camp Dale, to return to the ridge along Stocking Dale. From here, it's not too long before the Way drops from the Wolds to the village of Muston, and crosses the flatter land to Filey, the coast, and the end of the Wolds Way.

Those wishing to continue from Filey to the ceremonial finish of the Wolds Way, at Filey Brigg, should walk the first few Waymarks of Walk 2584.

Dog walkers please note that there are a number of dog-unfriendly stiles en route, and areas where livestock may be present.
