Take the train from Llanbradach to Ystrad Mynach and walk back along the ridge between the Rhymney and Senghenydd Valleys. There are fine views stretching from the Brecon Beacons to the Bristol Channel.
Although close to the heavily populated valleys, this walk is quite remote and peaceful.
