The ascent of Buckden Pike by this route is at a very easy angle after the first few hundred metres. The first 300m are, in fact, along an old lane with a rough surface. Higher up it is typical Pennine moorland. The descent to Buckden is steeper and the path by the Wharfe a delight - almost a reward for the hard work put in earlier. If you like Yorkshire then you will like this walk, which has all the features and views that you expect.

Completed this walk 4th Aug.2014 Excellent walk with superb views as you leave the village to start the climb up top moor road, keep looking back as you climb and watch the village get smaller & smaller, once you reach Cam Head you think the climb is over and it is until you reach WM 8, then you climb again up towards the ruin and then to the memorial cross & the trig. From there it's all down hill. Absolutely fabulous views from the trig. The last 4 miles from Buckden bridge back to Kettlewell is a superb flat walk along Dales Way and the banks of the River Wharfe. Highly recommended. Thanks Jim Grindle & Walking World for a great day out..

Clear directions throughout and a walk with a bit of everything! The memorial for the crashed plane near the summit of Buckden Pike was quite poignant and was surrounded by wreaths from local RAF establishments.

Did this walk in gale force winds, driving rain and hail. Not recommended as you don't benefit from the fantastic views that are available from the top of the pike. The section before the memorial and pike was also very boggy. Great walk but would definitly do this again on a fine day.

Loved this walk. Between waypoints one and two there is an old fashoned corner shop; it's worth a look round and they sell great butties. I would recommend reading the story on the internet about the bomber that crashed in 1942, before doing the walk; It's very interesting.

Great walk, extremely windy everywhere, except for the last easy stretch on the river bank. Toilets plentiful and clean!

Fantastic walk a bit steep to start and we got a bit lost at the top. Nevertheless very much worth the hard climb and a nice descent to a pub at the bottom before a nice easy walk back
