The ascent of Buckden Pike by this route is at a very easy angle after the first few hundred metres. The first 300m are, in fact, along an old lane with a rough surface. Higher up it is typical Pennine moorland. The descent to Buckden is steeper and the path by the Wharfe a delight - almost a reward for the hard work put in earlier. If you like Yorkshire then you will like this walk, which has all the features and views that you expect.
