This is a very pleasant short walk through fields on the outskirts of Kirkby Stephen to Greenriggs Farm. Then back on the route of the Coast to Coast path into the town.

The walk passes by the ancient monument of Croglam Castle. Although it has not been excavated it has the form of an defended Iron Age enclosure, slightly unusual in having an outer bank and inner ditch. Unfortunately there is no public access but its prominent location can be appreciated from the walk.
