Walk 5491 starts by cresting the craggy ridge of Steel Knotts, which is reached in about 45 minutes. The route then climbs gradually up to the Roman road of High Street. We then traverse the northern end of the Street to pass over the two Wainwrights of Wether Hill and Loadpot Hill, which both lack prominence, before reaching the northernmost terminal outpost of the High Street range at Arthur's Pike.
Doubling back briefly, we cross Swarth Beck to arrive at the excellent vantage point on Bonscale Pike - our fifth Wainwright of the day. Finally we use the zigzag grass path to take us back down the flank of Swarth Fell and return us to Mellguards, near Howtown.
