This memorable walk takes you in the footsteps of William Wordsworth. From the quaint village of Ambleside through the lower reaches of the towering crags that surround the area on onto Rydal waterfalls with the nearby hall and lake which offer amazing opportunities for picnics whilst taking in the picturesque views of the surroundings. Not content with just one Lake the walk moves onto the Grasmere lake which has epic landscapes surrounding it with some of the highest peaks in the larea on show.
After skirting the waters edge for some time we wander through old woodland and up onto the fells of lower Loughrigg offering breath taking views that go on for miles. A highlight of the walk is passing some old caves which are actually old quarries you can explore if you wish to and then continuing down to the opposite side of Rydal water again taking in the scenery as you get panoramic views of the area.
We return to Ambleside via small lanes past rivers and some bridges where we end the walk and visit one of the many pubs or cafes in the village for a well earned drink and meal and if you have time visiting many of the wonderful shops the village has to offer.

Very nice New Year's Eve walk. Easy to follow and nothing too strenuous. Plenty of great views with loads of photo opportunities...hence about 4 hours.
