A long, easy ascent to the Kirkstone Pass Inn is followed by a tough climb directly up Red Screes with the possibility of finding difficult ground - this is not recommended in bad weather. The gradual descent to Ambleside is over easy ground and the views of the central and western fells make the whole thing worth while.

Enjoyed this walk last week, in great weather. The path from the Kirkstone Inn is quite easy to follow, but have to admit it took us up towards the chimney. This is the clearest path from the car park, and wasn't too much of a scramble in the upper section.
