This is a circular walk, taking the Cumbrian Coastal path up to Bigland Tarn, which sits in a quiet hollow in the fell. The walk can be extended by walking around the tarn.

Sitting just above it is Bigland Hall. The path out of Bigland Hall leads to a track across open fells to the viewpoint on top of Bigland Barrow. The viewpoint gives excellent views across to Ulverston and the Morecombe Bay area. Meander back down the fells to the small hamlet of Brow Edge and then through woods near to the River Leven.

Lovely walk with a hidden gem of a tarn and glorious views over the Bigland Barrow. We found point 9-10 confusing and very boggy and would probably follow the waymarked path next time adding a little extra onto the distance. We also missed the gorse bushes at point 13 but headed straight on and reached the lane a bit further along.

A fab little walk with great views. Completed Nov 14th 2021, great going & so very quiet didn't see anyone. The tarn at the top is lush & I was disappointed I didn't have my swimming kit with me. Very dog friendly.
