This is a walk to visit the ten listed bridges in and around Bishop Auckland, based on the pocket booklet, 'The Listed Bridges of Bishop Auckland'. In pursuit of the bridges the walk visits the Auckland Deer Park, travels along a part of the Auckland Railway as the route passes through the Auckland Park and South Church area of the town. Urban walking then follows through the town centre before crossing and re-crossing the River Wear to end the walk.

The walk starts from the Batts area of the town alongside the River Wear, before entering the deer-park where several of the bridges are located. A nice little section of railway path-walking follows before the route passes through two outlying villages. The route then enters the built-up area of the town that includes a visit to the marketplace where the rejuvenation of the town is more apparent. The final section of the walk visits the bridges that cross the River Wear to arrive back at the Batts.

Four of the bridges are across the River Gaunless, three are across the Coundon Beck, two span the River Wear and one is a bridge across the Bishop Auckland to Witton-le-Wear railway line.
