A true country walk through the gently rolling hills in the fertile area in the south of County Durham. This circular walk starts from the pleasant farming village of Bolam, the highest point of the walk. Terrain comprises a mixture of fields, lanes and very quiet roads. Although this not a high-level walk, the route does reveal great views looking south from the Cleveland Hills in the east to the Pennines in the west.
From Bolam Village the walk gently descends through a series of fields and an enclosed lane to arrive in the picturesque village of Killerby at the lowest point of the walk. A fair mixture of field-, lane- and quiet road-walking follows as the route heads gently uphill before the walk starts the final leg back to Bolam along a farm track and an easy finish along a surfaced lane with virtually no traffic.
