A very pleasant, easy to follow triangular route through the mildly undulating farming land just to the south of West Auckland. The route comprises mainly lane and farm tracks with a small amount of field-walking.

For the first third of the walk from Bolam Village the walk heads west, travelling along an enclosed surfaced lane that changes to a farm track. The route then changes direction to start the second leg of the walk and heads north briefly through fields. Long, wide, enclosed lane-walking follows before the route changes direction to start the third and final leg of the walk along both surfaced and unsurfaced lanes, farm tracks and fields to return to Bolam.

Great walk but a couple of points to note. The section 13-14 is severely overgrown and tricky to navigate. The car park at Bolam is privately owned by the pub and holiday park. Do not park there as you will be at risk of being clamped.
