Bowness and School Knott

This is a walk through beautiful countryside typical of the lower Lakeland Fells. It is to the east of Bowness and although it starts with a stiff climb and has one other, the last pull up to School Knott, it is not unduly strenuous. Much of the route is on gravelled paths and tracks and what grass there is has been cropped by sheep. Bowness, as you may know, could be called the Blackpool of the Lake District, but ten minutes into this walk and it has all been left behind with some uncrowded paths and some really superb scenery to look forward to.

Did this walk in early December following a few storms. It was a wet underfoot but nothing too bad especially given the previous days weather. It is a lovely walk, although we went from from waymark 12 to 16 missing out School Knott as we were short for time. This took about 0.5 mile off the distance. Overall a well signposted very enjoyable walk.

This was a lovely walk, great to explore the area around bowness and lovely views of windermere. All directions were pretty clear. Some parts were muddy after heavy rain the day before but all passable with walking boots. We started from waypoint 4 and worked well.

A very nice walk and easy to follow, a bit difficult to escape Bowness as much of the walk skirts a housing estate but still some good countryside on view and good views of the lake whilst climbing School Knott.
