The walk has a particular interest in that it is based upon the railway station used in Brief Encounter, but it also has its own merits. You soon leave the town and enjoy a long, quiet walk along the canal. A stream is followed to the outskirts of Warton, where you can find refreshments and an interesting church, before a stroll through the fields leads to the edge of Carnforth.

We completed this walk on 2/9/15 and could not recommend. Although it started well the noise of the M6 was soon overwhelming. The stretch described as difficult was almost impassable and the whole experience was very unpleasant with nettles almost to our shoulders. The station is worth a visit but not combined with this walk.

Lovely walk and very easy to follow. We also enjoyed morning coffee (Mike had a pot of real tea with a sieve!) and toasted teacakes in the 'brief encounter' cafe before setting off. Note: The gate at waymark 4 was double padlocked and we had to climb over - agree too about the vegetation at waymark 6 - really had to fight our way through.
