This walk is in an area of the Lake District that is much visited, but not perhaps by walkers, for whom there are higher and more challenging prospects further north. The village itself is charming and an excellent base for this walk or a stay, while the countryside is as attractive as you will find. You won't regret coming here for a change and if the weather is poor on the fells you will have a good chance of staying dry here. There are lovely meadows, attractive woods and generally good signposting, while steep climbs are few and short.
