Starting from the Walna Scar Car Park, the walk leads off past The Bell and down the Copper Mines Valley to head along part of the Old Coniston Railway line. This is followed by a pleasant lakeside stroll along the shores of Coniston Water and a gentle climb through Torver Common Wood before heading up onto Bleathwaite Pasture, finishing with a ramble along Walna Scar Road back to the car park. There is a wide choice of post-walk refreshments available in Coniston Village.

This walk may not be easy with a large dog that doesn’t like slate stiles. The stile at WP 38 is very high and consists of a wall with three slates to climb on either side.
