The walk starts and finishes by the narrow stone bridge over the River Lune near Beck Foot and initially follows a lane, before heading up into the hills. The tracks are well-defined right up to The Calf summit and back down from Bram Rigg Top. Once back in farmland, well-signed, if not well-used paths are followed back to the bridge and the starting point.
