This is a linear walk between two Cumbrian villages that we were able to do with the help of friends who drove us to the start; the only other way is to use two cars as there is no public transport. The walk begins by following a stream before climbing through high meadows to reach moorland, from which there are stunning views of the Howgills to the south. A descent through fields, aiming for the white-painted church in Orton, brings you to this village with its pub and cafes.
