The walk, which is based on the attractive village of Crosby Ravensworth, follows the Lyvennet Beck before climbing to the fells. It joins the Coast to Coast Walk for a short while before climbing further and joining bridleways downhill to the start. It is the most delightful countryside, an area that has few walkers apart from those on the Coast to Coast route and there is a community-owned pub in the village. The large meadow between Waymarks 13 and 14 seems to be rarely walked as there is no visible footpath; in high summer, before the grass is cut, it is very hard going; it might be borne in mind when choosing a time to do the walk.
