From Egglesburn the walk starts along a quiet surfaced lane before intersecting a wide stony track that rises onto the Open Access Land of Eggleston Common. After leaving the stony track, rough moorland walking follows on non-existent tracks that takes the walker up to the highest point of the walk to a shooters' hut, where the walk intersects another stony track. After a short section of level walking the track then descends off the moor to intersect a main road. A little road-walking follows before the route leaves the road and descends steeply through fields into the valley of the Eggleston Burn. The walk then tracks the path through the wooded valley alongside the burn before emerging back onto the surfaced lane along which the walk started. The walk ends with an easy flat walk along the lane for a return to Egglesburn. Compass skills are required on this walk, as there is no obvious track up the moor from the stony track at Waymark 5, unless of course you are walking with the aid of a GPS.
