The walk starts at Egglestone Abbey, taking you down to the banks of the River Tees, continuing through beautiful woods and countryside, passing ancient halls and churches, including Rokeby Hall and Mortham Tower. You will pass the Meeting of the Waters, where Greta River merges with the River Tees.

Greta Bridge is the site of a Roman fort, set back off the old Roman road, now the A66. At times there are lovely river views and opportunities to see a variety of wildlife. Mainly flat, with some ascents and descents through the woods and countryside, rhere is a hotel just off the walk where refreshments can be taken.

Please note this walk crosses the very busy A66 at one point.
