A challenging linear walk from Forest-in-Teesdale that crosses the remote fells between Teesdale and Lunedale. A long section of road walking follows that passes the huge Selset Reservoir in Lundale before the route re-crosses the fells to descend into the delightful dales village of Middleton-in-Teesdale. This is a walk that requires the use of a map and compass, unless you are walking with a GPS.

This is a linear walk that is only possible on a Wednesday when the Upper Teesdale mini-bus makes its once a week service run between Middleton-in-Teesdale and Langdon Beck. The walk involves parking the car in Middleton-in-Teesdale and catching the mini-bus up to the Hanging Shaw car park to start the walk. From here the route passes briefly through farming land to cross the River Tees and then enter Open Access Land. A steep climb up the flanks of Noon Hill is followed by a flat section of open moor before climbing once again up to the highest point of the walk at Hagworm Hill. From here the walk descends to arrive at the road running through the picturesque side valley of Lunedale with its two prominent reservoirs. A long road walk follows on a moorland road with light traffic before the route rises, steeply at times once again through farming country up to the Open Access Land around Harter Fell. The final particularly pleasurable section of the walk is the route down the fell to Middleton-in-Teesdale that reveals great views of this outstanding dale.
