This walk takes in the beautiful views of Ullswater after a relatively short climb. It starts in the little hamlet of Glenridding, which is really popular with tourists and has plenty of parking. It follows the beck towards the lead mine for a time before taking a turn up the hill to Lanty's Tarn.
On the route up and looking behind, great views of the lake and surrounding hills can be taken in. Lanty's Tarn is a lovely setting for a picnic. As the walk continues, the descent offers fantastic views of the fells and walkers can be seen on their way up to Helvellyn from Patterdale.
The walk continues to Patterdale over lowland fellside, offering the opportunity to take a detour up to Black Crag or further along up to Boredale Hause.
There are various pubs en route and a lovely tea room at Side Farm towards the end of the walk.
At the end of the walk, it's possible to walk from the car park at Glenridding and take a steamboat ride along Ullswater, which round trip takes around 1 hour 30 mins.
