This short walk should not be underestimated. An easy lakeside path is followed by the delightful track to the row of miners' houses named on the map as Seldom Seen. From here though, the path first gets steeper and then more rugged. Have I put you off? If you rise to the challenge, not only will you experience that lovely path to Seldom Seen, but you will also have possibly the best view of Ullswater and a wide panorama of high fells. It is a good walk for avoiding crowds - you will probably meet only devoted Wainwright baggers - and you will have to exercise your mountain navigational skills. The walk is not recommended in poor weather as there is an almost trackless moorland section and the possibility of icing on some of the rockier parts. Part of the descent is also a tough proposition.
