Starting off just outside the beautiful village of Grasmere, this walk heads east, up a steep route aiming for Alcock Tarn. The tarn is located on a shelf about 380m above sea level, is a beautiful place to visit but can be crowded on a busy day.

From here the route leads away from the crowds and follows a faint path south-east to pick up the Fairfield Horseshoe Path at Nab Scar. This is the first Wainwright of the day and two others are summited as the path heads north for several miles to the highest point of the day at Great Rigg.

From here it's a turn south-west heading downhill to the rocky summit of Stone Arthur which overlooks the stunning Vale of Grasmere. The path continues down the steep side of the fell and leads back to the village where you can explore at your own leisure. You will not be disappointed with the views on this one (unless the cloud comes down!)
