This is a popular walk on clear tracks which gains some height in a short distance.

A lane gives way to a track rising gradually above the Vale of Grasmere. There are numbers of seats and other resting-places from which to admire the views so that the walk can be savoured by the slowest walker. The tarn itself is an attractive, quiet spot (although Wainwright didn't like it much!).

The descent is clear but steeper than the way up and the return is across the beautiful meadows surrounding Grasmere Village.

Wonderful walk. easy directions to follow. The views from the top took our breath away. The route up is very steep and not ideal for young children who may find the climb a struggle.
