The walk starts near the church in the centre of the village and takes a concessionary path near the gingerbread shop. The path follows the river and goes through a car park at the north end of the village before reaching the riverbank again.

A bridge takes the walker into pastures before a steeper climb leads to Easedale Tarn. The stream from the tarn is crossed by stepping-stones before a muddy track is taken back into the valley.

A bridge at the bottom is crossed and an enclosed and stony path leads down to the houses and farms on the outskirts of the village, before the tarmac road is reached. This brings the walker directly back to Grasmere.

An excellent walk whatever the weather, seems more than 5 miles although not too strenuous, fantastic views, easy to follow directions, dogs must be on a leash from start to finish.
