This walk gives you an opportunity to see a little more than the main streets of Hawes and can be a welcome break if you have seen all the attractions of this excellent Yorkshire market town. It starts from east end of the town and goes up behind the church and crosses a field on large stone paving slabs and then passes through the lower part of Gayle.
It then crosses another field once again on large stone paving slabs and then up through West End and out onto the fields. The walk then crosses the fields to travel along side Gayle Beck to reach Aysgill Force. Just beyond the top of the falls the way crosses the beck over the footbridge and climbs up hill to reach the road.
Once on the road the way descend back down to cross the bridge in the older part of Gayle, which is an interesting spot to visit in its own right. It then goes down the road to cross the same field crossed on the outward route and once again passes behind the church and so back to the start.
