A shorter circuit than the one up High Street starting from the same spot, but still getting you high up onto Harter Fell, with great views down Haweswater.

There's a chance you might see golden eagles on your way up. In summer there are often wardens around to help you point your binoculars in the right direction.

The route takes you up a ridge onto Harter Fell, then along its fairly flat top, before dropping down to Gatescarth Pass. Then there's a nice path down beside a stream to the start point at Mardale Head.
