This is a circular walk to a monument that can be seen from Hawkshead. It is only a short climb to the top of Latterbarrow, which is rewarded with spectacular views. The route is through fields and woodland on easy-to-follow paths.
THE SECTION OF THE WALK THROUGH FORESTRY LAND BETWEEN WPs 12 & 13 HAS BEEN CLEAR-FELLED, THE WHITE MARKER POSTS HAVE BEEN REMOVED AND THE LINE OF THE PATH IS NO LONGER VISIBLE ON THE GROUND. WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU ONLY WALK THIS SECTION IF YOU ARE ABLE AND CONFIDENT WITH MAP AND COMPASS.

Just did this walk on the 19th May,2010 but turned back on second half of the walk when path petered out amid a forest of stumps and no sign posts.Finished the walk by returning to the stile and following the sign post to Hawkshead.

Couldn't spot the less steep path to the top, but straight up was fine. Worth noting that the majority of the woodland in the second half of the walk has been felled. Leaving you walking through a lanscape of stumps, with no markers. Overall though an enjoyable walk.

It's a good walk with a great view at Latterbarrow.
