This is a great short walk taking in the summit of High Rigg and its breathtaking views of Blencathra, Skiddaw and St Johns in the Vale.

Starting off in a lay-by just off the A591 at Rough How Bridge near Shoulthwaite, the route heads north along an undulating path to pick up a minor road continuing north. The route turns east and leads up to the Youth Centre before turning south and beginning the ascent to High Rigg.

The summit stands at 357m above sea level and is surrounded by higher peaks on all sides, but this doesn't mean the view is poor. In fact the view is breathtaking and worth the minimal effort to reach.

From the summit the route heads south to pick up a wall before turning west and descending back to the valley floor.
