A very nice moorland walk around Muggleswick Common, passing by the neighbouring small reservoirs of Hiseshope and Smiddy Shaw. The walk, that is generally of an undulating nature, contains a nice flat section where the route hugs a man-made watercourse that follows the contours of the moor. Great views are displayed along the entire length of the walk.
From the car park the route descends to Hisehope Reservoir on a stony track. The walk then crosses the dam and takes a huge sweep along a wide grassy path as the route follows the line of a man-made watercourse that follows the contour of Muggleswick Common. Near the head of the watercourse the route leaves the moor and enters farmland before turning south for a long section of moorland-walking. After the walk emerges from a gully, further moorland-walking takes the walker to Smiddy Shaw Reservoir. From here wide rising tracks intersect the Waskerley Way Railway Path for a return to the car park.
