This walk is a figure-of-eight with the Bridge Inn at Helwith Bridge as a convenient central point. It combines two climbs across the slopes of Pen-y-Ghent with a quiet lane and a section of the Ribble Way. The climbs are not arduous and have the merit of giving wider views than are to be had from the riverbank, including Ingleborough and Whernside to the west and north respectively and Pendle to the south. The walk could equally well be started from the Stainforth or the Helwith Bridge car park.
