A superb, easy to follow walk along the shores of two of the reservoirs in the Baldersdale Valley, a side valley of the more popular Teesdale. The circular route is completed by ascending Cotherstone Moor and traversing the flat ridge of the moor with its terrific panoramic views of the North Pennines before gently descending back into Baldersdale.
This walk initially tracks the north shoreline of Hury Reservoir and then Blackton Reservoir to pass by the former home of inspirational Daleswoman and TV personality Hanna Hauxwell. The route then turns south and heads up the Open Access Land of Cotherstone Moor to traverse the flat ridge of the moor, from where there are panoramic views of this area of outstanding natural beauty in the south-western corner of the North Pennines. The walk then changes direction again as it gradually descends the moor, passing a large area of MoD Firing Ranges on its way back to Hury Reservoir in the Baldersdale Valley.
