A walk with excellent views throughout, starting from around 550ft above Ambleside and which reaches the summit of Red Screes with its commanding vistas over the Lake District by gradually climbing a long, delightful ridge. On reaching the summit of Red Screes at some 2,545ft there is a very steep descent to the Kirkstone Inn; this is why the walk has been graded as a hill scramble. Once refreshed at the inn, it is an easy and pleasant road-walk back down to the start of the walk.
