A very pleasant, easy-going circular walk in the gently rolling countryside of Lower Teesdale just to the west of Barnard Castle. The walk features a little railway path walking, a glorious ancient wood and finally a pleasant section of field walking.

From Lartington village the route heads south through fields and a short section of railway path to enter Deepdale Wood. The section through the long, deep and narrow wood takes up almost half the length of the walk on terrain that is mainly either flat or downhill. The track emerges from the wood to intersect the Teesdale Way long distance footpath that the route follows for a while before branching off to pass through another wood followed by several fields to return to Lartington.
