We start from Hannafore promenade, overlooking Looe Island, famously known for many years for its only two inhabitants of two elderly sisters and now a place of special interest. Our walk takes us down to the bustling harbour of West Looe. Here on the quayside is an ideal place to catch our breath before starting our journey up a very steep hill, past quaint character cottages and along quiet country lanes and picturesque views of the coast. As we continue our journey, it takes us round the edge of a holiday site and down into the small cove of Talland Bay. Here we are rewarded for our efforts with refreshments from the small cove cafe.
From the cove, we climb steeply, following quiet tracks and lanes, before the steep descent to the thriving harbour of Polperro. Once we have spent some time exploring this picturesque village and working harbour, we begin our return journey climbing up again, along narrow paths between quaint cottages, to emerge onto the rugged beauty of the SW Coast Path, with its ever-changing views, so have your camera handy. Our return journey then takes us through Talland Bay and continues along a further 5km stretch of coast path, with more stunning views of the rugged coastline beore returning us to the start of our walk on the promenade.
