This walk starts in the pretty village of Mungrisdale and takes the most direct route up through Bannerdale to Mungrisdale Common. It visits three Wainwright summits, Bannerdale Crags, Bowscale Fell and Mungrisdale Common (perhaps one of the least frequented Wainwrights), but one which enjoys fabulous views of Skiddaw and the Northern fells, and includes a striking window to the south west between Lonscale Fell and Blencathra, revealing unexpectedly a run of high fells from Pillar to Crinkle Crags. Elsewhere the view consists of those nearby fells surrounding Skiddaw Forest
