The route follows some of Craven's green lanes along the Craven Fault before climbing to the remains of the ancient Nappa Cross. The descent into Malham affords good views of the patchwork field structure and probably the best view of Malham Cove in the area.

Super walk; ideal for a half day - we did it one Friday afternoon having arrived in Malham for the weekend. A lovely pastoral start through pastures up to the moor and ridge line, offering glorious views to the south west. Then the approach towards Malham Tarn followed by THE very best views of Malham Cove that I have yet to discover. Such a scenic and enjoyable decent. If you are in the area its not to be missed.

A very good walk but a word of caution, the footpath between points 6 and 7 can be difficult to follow but having said that you shouldn't get lost.
