The walk is based upon the little Cumbrian village of Orton; the cafes, church and chocolate factory plus a welcoming pub make it an attraction in itself, as do the Saturday Farmers' Markets. The walk climbs gently through grasslands and then drops alongside the River Lune for a short distance, before a bridleway leads to the edge of the hamlet of Old Tebay. The Lune is again followed and after a very short stretch on a lane, pastures and a bridleway lead back to Orton.
