The walk starts from the popular C2C stop-over house at Waskerley Station located on the Waskerley Way Railway Path on the open moors high above Stanhope. The walk initially heads south on the Railway Path and at Weather Hill just before the path descends the long Weatherhill incline, the route turns left up a wide stony track that takes the walker up to the highest point of the walk to the trig point on Collier Law hill. From here there are 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside. The walk then starts to descend north east down the rough moor initially following an arrow straight fence line. When the Waskerley Resevoir comes into view the route leaves the fence line and crosses the open moor through an area of rocks to intersect a line of grouse butts that leads down to cross the reservoir dam wall. From here a wide stony track rises to intersect the Wakerley Way Railway Path to return to Parkhead Station. The whole of the route lies within 'Open Access' land.

Completed this walk today. The views are excellent and in the main the walk is a pleasant one. However, I found the section after way point 4 far more challenging than the description suggests. The heather is knee high in places and it makes it difficult to see where you are placing your feet. I had a few minor ankle turning moments. Add to that the hidden nesting grouse that suddenly appear as you approach and there's plenty to keep you on your toes. To be honest, I didn't really enjoy this section and was glad to reach the track again. Unfortunately, Parkhead Station Cafe is currently closed due to ill health (27th Aug 2022), there are no other refreshment venues on the route.

Lovely walk on mainly good underfoot apart from the section following the fence down from collier law. This is hard going over heather covered rough ground (2 small terriers struggled) but overall a nice walk a nice distance.
