From Pooley Bridge a permitted path is taken parallel to the road and lake to reach a footpath. This leads through a caravan site where good waymarking makes it easy to find the way out onto a private road going north to the village of Dacre with good views of the Pennines on the right. A public road is reached which very quickly brings you to Dacre, passing a picnic site by a stream. The pub in Dacre is a few moments off the route which follows a track to Dalemain Hall where there are toilets and a tea room. From here there is a steady climb leading to excellent views of the Eastern Fells. After a slow descent the river Eamont is followed back to the start on a lovely path with no stiles and lots of newly planted trees.
