From Pooley Bridge we take an easy climb up over Barton Fell to Loadpot Hill, via the Roman road 'High Street'. It's then a steep descent into the beautiful valley of Fusedale, to Howtown. From here we take the paths through meadows and along the shoreline of Ullswater, back to Pooley Bridge.

A very enjoyable walk in a lesser known part of the Lake District. Excellent views of the Lakeland Fells and Pennines from Loadpot Hill. While the climb is fairly gentle by Lakes standards, care is needed on the descent.
