This walk is a variation of 4343 which I put up a few years back. It goes in the opposite direction (anticlockwise) so that the last section, although covering the same ground as the start of 4343, gives a very different experience. The second part, on the higher ground, is completely different and the objective of the walk was to visit The Cockpit, an ancient place of worship that contrasted with Barton Church, which is merely very old. There are only two stiles and the route is mainly on tracks, although some care is needed on the higher ground as there are some that are not mapped. Views are simply outstanding for most of the walk and the high ground is easily reached by lane and track at the start of the walk.
