This walk gives fabulous views of Wensleydale and takes in The Redmire Falls or 'Redmire Force', (equally impressive but less well-known than the Aysgarth Falls, since the Redmire Falls are further from the main road), Redmire Village, Castle Bolton, (where Mary, Queen of Scots was held in the 16th Century), Preston under Scar, the River Ure and Penhill. It passes through typical Yorkshire Dales countryside.

In Redmire Village the Bolton Arms is near the end of the walk and offers food and drink seven days a week. Various scenes for All Creatures Great and Small were filmed in this pub and elsewhere in the village.

For bird spotters there are herons, mallards, robins, wrens, tree-creepers, woodpeckers, geese, chaffinches, blue tits, great tits, pheasants and partridges amongst the birds you may see. Rabbits abound in most of the fields and stoats may also be seen.

There is no car park at waymark 2 so it is best to park in Redmire on the roadside.

A nice walk. At waymark 3, the owners of the house make it appear that you are straying on to private property. There is a new path to the falls but when returning (waymark 7) you need to go through the gate and you will see the steps in the wall.
