An amazingly varied walk in the heart of the upper Eden Valley. The walk has stretches over limestone pavements, through fields with dry-stone walls, over heather-covered fells and a truly remote river valley.

Sunbiggin Tarn itself is a Mecca for birdwatchers, so you can spend a happy hour or more just watching the fowl.

A good deal of the walk is in new open access areas, though much is on existing rights of way. The last mile or so though, is across a section of moor where there is no distinct path. Navigation is quite easy on this section as you simply make for a prominent dry-stone wall and follow it.

Halfway into the walk you encounter the remnants of an ancient settlement. All to be seen are grassy banks but the setting is interesting. Throughout the walk there are great views of the Howgills, the North Pennines and the eastern Lake District Fells.

A few alterations to the descriptions are needed - some of the waypoints have altered - overall enjoyable walk - the path for the final section seems to have disappeared.
