Parking on this quiet road means that you are already in the hills north of Coniston with magnificent views all around. The first part of the walk uphill is on a path of boulders, which reaches a high point overlooking Little Langdale Tarn, with a wonderful view of the Langdale Pikes. You descend close to the tarn before a pleasant walk along the river, finally entering woodland to meet a quiet metalled road back to the starting point. This walk has spectacular Lakeland views without too much effort. We walked it with a 3-year-old who coped very well.

Completed this pleasant walk today. Noted previous comments re the last instruction No 10 and suggest the following to replace No 10 as the gate referred to has been removed and Holme cottages now seem to be holiday lets and a bunkhouse. 'Go along the metalled way to pass cottages and Holme Fell on your left. After passing National Trust cottages on you right, continue along the road for approximately 200 m to a footpath sign and gate on your right. Follow the footpath through trees and across a field towards the farm in instruction 1. Join the road and turn left to return to the car park.' Note the GPS location for instruction 10 is correct. Nice Walk with good views but beware as the instructions are not good particularly on the last instruction. You will need a map to be sure of the right way.
