A varied walk from the ever-popular Tunstall Reservoir in the Waskerley Valley. This interesting route includes field- and lane-walking with a little rough fell-walking, followed by a scenic section along a railway path. The final 2.5 miles of the route is either flat or downhill.
The walk starts with a little road-walking along the reservoir shore before crossing the dam wall and climbing steeply to start a long section of field=walking. Further lane-walking follows before the route ascends a delightful enclosed lane and then more field-work takes you up Wolsingham North Moor to intersect the Open Access Land of the fell at the highest point of the walk. Rough moorland-walking then follows to intersect a glorious path on the route of a disused railway line. The fairly long ramble along the railway path delivers great views of the countryside to the south and west. The final lap is initially downhill and then on the flat as the route follows the shoreline of the reservoir to return to the car park.
