This lovely walk starts off in the small village of Troutbeck near Windermere and summits one Wainwright along the route. From the church in Troutbeck the route follows public footpaths and short sections of quiet country lanes to make its way up to Nanny Lane, the main part up to Wansfell. Once at Nanny Lane the route briefly gets a little steeper before becoming gentle again as it heads up to about the 400m contour. The route follows the wall up a steep, pathless section to the 488m summit of Wansfell which offers amazing views over to Kirkstone, the Ill Bell ridge and Fairfield group.

From the highest point the route follows an undulating path along the backbone of Wansfell to Wansfell Pike. The view from Wansfell Pike is breathtaking, as you can see down the full length of Windermere to Morecambe Bay in the south. On a clear day you may even see Blackpool Tower! From the 482m summit of Wansfell Pike the route follows a constructed path back down to Nanny Lane and brings you all the way back to Troutbeck.

Fabulous walk with stunning views! At point 8 there was a padlocked gate where the gap is on the map so we opted to go over the ladder-stile and made our way up to the cairn via a well trodden path! Apart from that the instructions were very clear and easy to follow.

This was an absolutely beautiful walk and easy to follow. Boggy in places due to heavy rainfall. Many thanks
