A somewhat neglected circuit from Haweswater which, rather than climbing to the tops, explores a very remote valley and returns via the Old Corpse Road.

There's still plenty of climbing to be done however, as the first section takes you straight up to Gatescarth Pass. Then there's a stony track down the other side of the pass before turning off left into remote Mosedale.

The path brings you out at Swindale Head, where there's another brisk climb as you take the Old Corpse Road back towards Haweswater.

I’m not sure how this was measured but I counted it as 10.6 miles!! Also, think it’s a stretch to say it’s a moderate walk as tough climbs, descents and boggy areas to get through. Wouldn’t recommend to novice walkers.

Completed this walk today - I know it's February and it has rained a lot recently so we did expect some dampness underfoot but boggy is a massive understatement! Much of the middle part of the route was over virtual marshland.
