This is a relatively flat walk along the banks of the River Eden with fine views of the North Pennines. I have based it on Acorn Bank, a National Trust property, but it can be done by parking in the village when the gardens are closed. Of course, the tea room and toilets are then not available. Navigation is very easy and the route is well-waymarked.

August 2013 - a very pleasant and practically flat walk through farmland and alongside the River Eden, the National Trust cafe at Acorn Bank was open but very busy so didn't partake of their normally very good home cooking. The directions were spot on but as you approach WP7 and onwards to WP8 the path is very overgrown (5'+) with many nettles and thistles so beware little people and shorts-wearers! It was all dry underfoot but would imagine it could be quite clarity in a few places after rain.
